One of the first questions couples ask when planning their wedding is how much a videographer will cost. It is a fair question, and one that deserves a straightforward answer.
The short version: in the UK in 2026, most couples pay between £1,000 and £2,500 for professional wedding videography. But that range is wide for a reason. What you pay depends on how many hours you need, what you receive, and who you hire.
This guide breaks down exactly what drives the cost, what you should expect at each price point, and how to make the right decision for your budget without compromising on quality.
Average UK wedding videography prices in 2026
Based on our experience working across Dorset and Hampshire, and industry data from platforms like Hitched and Bridebook, here is what couples are typically paying in 2026:
Budget range (under £1,000): Usually a single videographer offering 4-6 hours of coverage. You will typically receive a highlight film of 3-5 minutes and possibly the ceremony in full. Equipment and experience levels vary significantly at this price point. Some newer videographers offer excellent value here as they build their portfolios.
Mid range (£1,000 to £1,800): This is where the majority of professional wedding videographers sit. Expect 8-10 hours of coverage, professional multi-camera filming, a highlight film, a full ceremony edit, and speeches. Many videographers in this bracket include drone footage, a full wedding film, and USB delivery. This is the sweet spot for quality and value.
Premium range (£1,800 to £3,500): At this level, you are typically getting a two-person team, extended coverage hours, same-day edits, faster turnaround, and highly polished cinematic editing. Some premium videographers also offer engagement shoots, teaser films, and bespoke music composition.
Luxury range (£3,500 and above): Multi-day coverage, destination wedding specialists, editorial-style productions, and videographers with significant industry recognition. This bracket is more common for London weddings and large-scale celebrations.
What affects the price of wedding videography?
Hours of coverage
This is the single biggest factor. A ceremony-only package covering 2-3 hours costs significantly less than a full-day package running from bridal preparations through to the last dance. Most couples find that 8-10 hours gives comprehensive coverage without paying for time that does not add to the final film.
Number of videographers
A solo videographer can produce beautiful work, but a two-person team captures perspectives that are impossible alone. While one films the ceremony from the front, the other captures reactions from behind, guest emotions, and alternative angles. As a husband and wife team, we work together as standard, which means dual coverage without the cost of hiring two separate professionals.
Deliverables
What you actually receive varies enormously. Some videographers deliver a single 5-minute highlight reel. Others provide a full-length wedding film of 30-60 minutes, a highlight edit, individual ceremony and speech films, drone footage, and a USB gift box. Make sure you understand exactly what is included before comparing prices.
Editing time and style
Editing is where the real craft happens. A well-edited wedding film takes 40-80 hours of post-production work: colour grading, audio balancing, music selection, pacing, and storytelling. Videographers who invest more time in editing charge accordingly, and the difference in the final product is significant.
Equipment
Professional cameras, lenses, stabilisers, drone equipment, wireless microphones, and backup systems represent a significant investment. Videographers using professional-grade equipment like Sony cinema cameras and wireless audio systems will charge more than those working with consumer-level gear, but the quality difference is visible in every frame.
Experience and reputation
A videographer with ten years of experience and a portfolio of consistently beautiful work will charge more than someone in their first year. This premium reflects not just technical skill but also the ability to anticipate moments, work discreetly under pressure, and handle unexpected situations on the day.
Location and travel
Most videographers include local travel in their pricing. For destination weddings or venues outside their usual area, expect to pay additional travel costs. At EKO, we include travel within Dorset and Hampshire in all our packages.
What should you look for when comparing quotes?
Price alone tells you very little. When comparing wedding videography quotes, focus on these specifics:
- Hours of coverage: Are preparation hours included, or just the ceremony onwards?
- Number of videographers: Solo or team?
- What films you receive: Highlight only, or full wedding film plus individual edits?
- Delivery format: Online gallery, USB, both?
- Turnaround time: 8 weeks or 6 months?
- Drone footage: Included or extra?
- Audio recording: Wireless lapel mics for vows and speeches, or camera-mounted audio only?
- Backup equipment: Do they carry spare cameras and batteries?
- Insurance: Professional indemnity and public liability?
Two quotes at the same price can represent very different levels of service. Always watch full wedding films from any videographer you are considering, not just their showreel.
Is wedding videography worth the investment?
We are obviously biased, but we hear the same thing from couples year after year: their wedding video is the thing they treasure most. Photographs capture how the day looked. Video captures how it sounded and felt. The crack in your partner's voice during the vows. Your dad's speech that had everyone in tears. The spontaneous moment on the dance floor that nobody planned.
These are moments that photographs alone cannot preserve. And unlike almost every other wedding expense, your film becomes more valuable with time, not less.
Our Signature Package starts at £1,650 and includes 10 hours of husband and wife team coverage, full wedding film, highlight reel, drone footage, and USB gift box. View our FAQs for more details.

If your budget is tight, here are practical ways to include videography without overspending:
Consider ceremony-only coverage. Our ceremony package starts at £500 and captures the most important moments of your day: the vows, the readings, the first kiss, and the confetti moment. It is a fraction of the cost of full-day coverage but preserves the moments you will want to relive most.
Book early. Many videographers offer early booking discounts. Getting in touch 12-18 months before your wedding gives you the best chance of securing your preferred date and potentially a better rate.
Choose a weekday or winter wedding. Saturday dates in peak summer are the most expensive and book up fastest. Weekday weddings and winter dates often come with lower venue costs and more videographer availability.
Ask about off-peak pricing. Some videographers offer reduced rates for weddings between November and March when demand is lower.
Prioritise what matters. If budget forces a choice between a longer highlight reel and full speeches, think about what you will actually watch in five, ten, or twenty years. Most couples rewatch the speeches and ceremony far more than the highlight film.
